To coincide with the launch of this site, I am also beginning the 100 Happy Days project and would love for you to join in with me!
For those of you who don’t know what this is or haven’t seen the hashtag from friends and family over any of your social media networks, it’s about finding at least one thing every day that makes you happy and posting your photo with a short explanation. The idea is that even when you feel like you are going through your darkest period of life, there are still some ways to ‘find the light’.
Now, I agree in principle with this but I’m going to redefine it slightly differently given that I have squiffy brain chemsitry (depression/anxiety) and don’t always believe We (of the squiffy brain chemistry) feel we have anything to be happy for. So whilst I’m going to use my specific hashtag of #RYF100happydays on my Facebook page, Twitter account and Instagram profile, I’ll redefine the word ‘happy’ to instead mean ‘makes me feel a little better’, ‘put a smile on my face’ or at the very least ‘I can appreciate this’.
Some days we can’t always be strong and on those days the last thing I want or need (like you) is to feel pressure to be ‘happy’ so if you feel like you’re going through a really bad patch, don’t share a #RYF100happydays photo of something that isn’t true; tweet me a photo of your TV or pet from the bed you haven’t left all day because you couldn’t face the world just yet.
I’ll be posting a weekly collection of photos and things that put a smile on my (and with your participation yours too) face here so don’t forget to check back and see what’s got us all feeling good!
